I’m writing this just days before Florra turns two, and it’s incredible to reflect on how much has unfolded in such a short time. In the early years of a business, every anniversary feels especially significant. Building a business from the ground up comes with its twists and turns, lessons, and moments of uncertainty. But more than anything, these past two years have been filled with beauty, transformation, and deep gratitude. I wouldn’t trade a single part of this experience because every step, even the challenging ones, has shaped Florra into the sanctuary it is today.
Florra is an extension of myself in every way. I have infused every aspect of this business with my passion and heart, and I continue to live and breathe it every day. While that might sound like a contradiction to the idea of work-life balance, building Florra has never felt like just 'work' to me. It’s part of a deeper journey—one that has shaped my own growth in the most profound ways. Though it has come with its challenges, nurturing this business has also been a path of personal expansion, teaching me more than I ever could have imagined.
Pouring myself into Florra hasn’t just been worthwhile—it has been a natural extension of my path and the only way to create something truly meaningful. When I reflect on the journey that led me here—the long road of dismantling a life that no longer felt true to me—I’m overcome with emotion. Florra wasn’t born the day we opened our doors. The seeds for this endeavor were sown long before that, when I made the choice to create a life that was vastly different from the one I had been living. That decision led me down a winding path—through the unknown, through the painful process of releasing old attachments, and finally, to the slow and intentional rebuilding, brick by brick.
And it’s the process of rebuilding that has stretched and grown me in both wonderful and challenging ways. The blurred line between my personal and business path means that every growing pain, every win, and every plot twist Florra has experienced was a reflection of my own transformation, a mirror of the lessons I needed to learn. With this expanded awareness, I am able to embrace every aspect of my business with gratitude and resilience—I am growing in tandem with Florra, and it’s amazing to both witness and live it. Here are my reflections from the past two years. I hope that by sharing my experiences, I am able to inspire others to trust their own paths, knowing that even the challenging moments hold the seeds of growth and transformation.
Reflections from the Past Two Years:
Following a Creative Spark: The Scent Bar
Some ideas arrive with a quiet whisper, but others ring so clearly that you know they’re meant to be followed. That was the case with The Scent Bar. The idea emerged during a conversation with a team member, and unlike other ideas I’d hesitated on in the past, this one felt undeniably inspired. So, I trusted it—and saw it through to completion. It’s these intuitive hits that I’m learning to trust more. For me, business is half intuition, half strategy. I’m learning to trust my instincts when it feels right and to use structure and action to bring projects to life. The Scent Bar has been flowing with customers since we launched it in September of last year, and it’s brought so much life and vibrancy to Florra. The Scent Bar invites customers to linger, explore, and connect with their creativity—turning fragrance into an art form. This is the evidence I needed to continue trusting my intuition and following creative sparks that feel alive. I’m grateful for the harmonious alignment of my creativity, which led to a beautiful offering that truly resonates with the community around me.
Returning to Purpose in Challenging Moments
Like any business, Florra has faced its share of challenges. There have been times of crippling fear and doubt, when I’ve wondered why I ever embarked on this path in the first place. But that's part of the journey—an inevitability when you take on something that truly matters. It seems like the Universe sends curveballs your way to grow you and strengthen your resolve. And in those moments of discouragement, I’ve found that the most powerful antidote has always been my sense of purpose. When I think of Florra not just as a collection of products, but as a sanctuary for women, I’m filled with a profound sense of gratitude. It’s the deeper purpose of this business that keeps me going. Florra was born from my own journey of healing and growth, and knowing that our products and offerings nurture and uplift our customers fills me with a deep sense of purpose.
Staying True to Alignment and Authenticity
In today’s social media-driven world, it’s easy to look around and compare yourself to others. The temptation to keep up with everyone else can be strong, and before you know it, you might become a chameleon—shifting to fit trends or expectations that don’t truly align with your vision. I believe the new paradigm of business must come from heart and soul to truly thrive. More than ever, customers can easily sense inauthenticity and sales-driven motives. While Florra was built from a deeply heart-centered place, I have to make a conscious choice in every moment to stay true and aligned. That alignment not only feels good—it fuels me forward. And when doubt creeps in, I return to the quiet space within that always knows what’s true.
Building Meaningful Community
Community-building is a deep source of fuel for me. Creating meaningful gatherings isn’t always easy, but it’s a part of my work that truly lights me up. I love meeting each of you, and even more, I love witnessing the connections that unfold in our space. Now more than ever, real, in-person connection is essential, and I’m grateful Florra provides a space for it. From high-vibrational business networking to creative workshops, I will continue bringing people together in ways that inspire, support, and uplift.
The Future of Florra
I once heard that a sign of being in the right place is simply wanting more of the same. And that’s exactly where I am—because Florra is truly the business of my dreams. So in the years ahead, that’s all I hope for—more of the same. More community, more creativity, more people walking through our doors, and more moments of healing, joy, and upliftment. I also hope to refine how we operate, deepen the way we serve our customers, and continue evolving. I want to keep improving while leaving space for creative sparks to turn into something magical—just like The Scent Bar. Through it all, my purpose will remain my north star, and my heart will always be my guide. I’m excited for what lies ahead. Thank you for being part of this beautifully unfolding journey.
Happy two years, Florra!
